Pierre was born in Belgrad (Serbia), in 1946, in a franco-serbe family. He studied architecture and was scenograph assistant in Belgrad from 1966 till 1969. In 1971 he relocated to France and devoted his life to art. He masters numerous art techniques: oil, pencil drawing, water-color, fresco, copperplate engraving, leaded glass window, calligraphy, miniature on wood panels, computer painting.
But Pierre is primarily a painter and etcher. In 1982 he revived the lost tradition of the etching of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries and created his first traditional etching school. In 1984 he relocated to California and opened a second school in Los Angeles. In 1991, a third one opened in Puerta Vallarta (Mexico). After years of research, he developed a new colored etchings process (copperplate engraving aquatint).
Since 1998, Pierre lives in France.
Since the 1970’s, Pierre Spalaikovitch participated to numerous exhibitions around the world including France, Serbia, Germany, Nederlands, United States, Mexico, Canada and Japan.
