Petre

VELICU

Petre Velicu was born in 1950 in Bucarest (Romania).

He first studies at the Fine Arts TOITZA school in Bucarest, then at the Fine Arts GRIGORESCU Institute, in the easel painting department. 

In 1978 the Bucarest town offers him the 2 years Theodor AMAN municipal scholarship as his work’s recognition. In 1980 he applies as a member of the Romania Artists Union and participates to the municipal and republican artshows organized by this association.

For 1990 he holds solo exhibitions nearly every year, mainly in France but also in Switzerland and in the Nederland. He also participates to numerous group exhibitions. 

His works are included in private collections in France, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, USA and Canada. 

As a painter of imaginary worlds, dreams and reality, his works hold the attention by the power of the fantastic inspiration, the strict art of the composition, the accuracy of the drawing, the colored harmony, the balance between masses, between darkness and light, and the diversity of typical and suggestive details.
